An Amazing Review that we Received regarding a Mitsui Cruise in July 2026:
Many staff onboard who spoke perfect English and so willing to help. The cabin was excellent, clean and refreshed from the Seabourn days. It was perfect. The staff couldn’t do enough for us and the food was sensational. We paid extra one night for a chef’s cooked meal, it was the best Japanese food I’ve had in a long time. But equally second was a Japanese lunch in the Main Dining Room. They also served Western food but we were always looking for the Japanese experience. Out the back of deck 8 called The Terrace we had most meals where the service and food was excellent. You could eat inside in the air-conditioning as it was extremely hot in Japan.
The tours were well organised and well run as there were about 18 English speaking passengers we were always put on a separate bus with and English speaking guide. The tours were excellent and the guides had done so much work behind the scenes with little hand made gifts and maps for us.
It is totally different from the Seabourn, Silversea’s, Regent experience and people need to know that with specific times for bars, meals etc. Mitsui is run by the clock and it works very, very well.
Embarkation times were in the afternoon which meant we could go straight to the cabin and unpack. Our luggage was already in the room. None of this hanging around waiting in a public areas for the cabin to be cleaned and often the luggage didn’t arrive for a few hours. The emergency drill was seamless on the TV.
Disembarkation was the best we’ve experienced. We were able to stay in our cabins until our deck was called which was 11.10am. There was no hurry in pushing us out by 8am etc and enforced heavily on the other lines. It was fantastic.
We loved the bands/music and we participated in line dancing lessons, bag making, a marble competitions. The usual games etc were also available but we wanted the Japanese focused daily activities. All in all it was one of the best organised cruises we’ve been on.
