Life Returns | Springtime Expedition to Antarctica
Late spring expedition gives you five days in Antarctica during its late spring as the glaciers and icebergs are at their most sparkly and pristine. Visit the beautiful, windswept Falkland Islands and the ‘Serengeti of the Southern Ocean’ South Georgia at the height of mating season. Over three weeks exploring some of the most remote and beautiful places on Earth, with abundant wildlife. Setting off from Buenos Aires, we head to the windswept green hills and the white-sand beaches of the Falkland Islands. And while the wildlife here is plentiful, South Georgia is in a class of its own, and the beaches heave with seals, penguins and other seabirds. At this time of year, the snow is fresh from winter, and in the sea towering icebergs glisten in their newly sculpted grandeur, while on land the penguins are courting and nest-building. In Antarctica, we’ll explore several landing sites where you can truly experience the frozen continent up close. Your voyage ends in Chile’s Patagonia region.

Antarctica cruise – In-depth Antarctica, Falkland Islands & South Georgia Expedition
Start among the rolling green hills of the remote Falklands where penguin colonies and soaring albatross thrive. Sail to South Georgia, ‘Serengeti of the Southern Ocean’, for vast King Penguin colonies, fur seals, and echoes of historic polar exploration. We’ll sail from Chile to explore the Falkland Islands and South Georgia, both Important Bird Areas teeming with wildlife. Falklands offers windswept beauty, while South Georgia features alpine landscapes, penguin colonies, fur seals, and abandoned whaling stations. Your Expedition Team will assess and adapt to the local weather conditions and ensure you have a truly unforgettable adventure. Next up is incomparable Antarctica, the Seventh Continent. Every day that we explore the Antarctic Peninsula, our route and landings are guided by nature. In October and November, penguins start courting and nesting. In December and January, penguin chicks are adorable sights in the longer, milder days. Come February and March, more whales visit the polar waters and penguin chicks start to molt their down feathers.

Milder summer weather means we’ll aim to journey below the Antarctic Circle to the secluded and magnificent Marguerite Bay. Enjoy whale spotting, seeing young penguins, hiking, kayaking, ice-cruising, and even camping on the Antarctic snow. Join your Expedition Team for ice-cruising activities, shore landings and fascinating lectures. You’ll get close to colossal glaciers and icebergs. We’ll observe Antarctic wildlife in their habitat – colonies of penguins, seals, whales and seabirds, maybe even kayaking or hiking past them. During the Antarctic summer, new routes through the sea ice below the Antarctic Circle become possible.
